ABOUT US

Bikes and Bands for Shrine Children was established in 2005
by Craig Hatch and Paulla Schemm. What started out as being a hobby
for Paulla, (motorcycle enthusiast), became a long term commitment to helping special needs children in our area.

In the last five years, we have grown our event to be a well attended
and favored event in the community. Many participants have attended
annually. We take great pride in our charity ride and offer a safe and
fun filled day for our Riders and Guests. Last year Brian Carr was
brought on board as the Director of Operations. Under the new
direction of Brian, last years fundraising event was very successful.

This year, we are again planning another great event with all the bells
and whistles for our Guests and Riders to have another memorable 3
day event while raising funds for our great cause.

Now presenting, Genesee County’s newest and exciting festival!
Be sure to mark your calendar for 3 fun filled days - June 11th thru
the 13th 2010, for the 1st Annual “Circus Park Extravaganza for Shrine
Children”. This new festival has joined together with the “6th Annual
Bikes and Bands for Shrine Children” making this event very new and
exciting! Featuring a full Carnival Midway by Schmidt Amusements.
Schmidt Amusements is proud to feature exciting midway entertainment
for young and old alike. There will be a huge parade starting in
downtown Clio, which will be combined with our huge police escorted
motorcycle ride. There will be live entertainment on Friday, and an all
day music concert on Saturday featuring 10 bands in our huge
entertainment tent. We will light up the sky this year with a huge
fireworks display on Friday night and for those who like to just
browse around, we will have a Craft show/flea market, vendor alley
and bike show. All proceeds benefit the Elf Khurafeh Shrine Center
for Shrine Children. For more info visit www.bikesandbands.com

We are working very hard to increase awareness in our community
regarding the Elf Khurafeh Shrine and what Shriners do for the
special needs of children in and around our community.

We hope that you will take part of this worthy cause and make
a difference in a child’s life. We have grown our team of Volunteers
and are looking forward to another prosperous event.
This year’s event will be held on June 11h thru the 13th 2010.

We sincerely appreciate your time and interest in our cause.

SHRINER HISTORY

Shriners of North America is an international fraternity based on
fun fellowship, and the Masonic principles of brotherly love,
relief, and truth, camaraderie, deep friendship, good fellowship
and great times are shared by all Shriners. All Shriners share a
Masonic heritage; each being a master mason in the freemasonry fraternity. There are more than 411,000 Shriners now. They gather
in temples or chapters throughout the United States, Canada,
Mexico, and the Republic of Panama.

What is a Shriner? What kind of organization attracts physicians,
lawyers, truck drivers, dentists, contractors, heads of state,
movie stars, generals, clergymen and accountants?

Someone might answer “oh yeah; Shriners are those guys who
always have those parades with the wild costumes and funny
little cars”. Another might think of circuses and clowns. “I don’t
know about all that”. A passerby might add “but I do know my
little girl was born with clubfeet and now they are straight and
she can walk like anyone else all thanks to the Shriners efforts”.

Shriners believe in God and that he created man to serve his
purpose, among which is service to others in his name. We believe
that care for the less fortunate, especially children who suffer from
burns and crippling diseases, is our institutional calling.

We thank you for your interest in the Shriners and hope that we
may provide any other information that you may need to better understand all of the functions that the Shriners do in your community.

Sincerely,

Elf Khurafeh Shrine Center.
